Napa Valley & Wine Country Wedding Rabbi
Meaningful Jewish Weddings in Napa, Sonoma & California Wine Country
Mazal tov!
I’m Rabbi Matt Rosenberg, an independent rabbi based in Northern California, and I officiate personalized Jewish weddings throughout Napa Valley, Sonoma and California Wine Country.
Whether you’re gathering beneath a chuppah among the vineyards, celebrating at a Wine Country resort, or planning an intimate ceremony with your closest family and friends, I’ll work with you to create a wedding ceremony that is joyful, authentically Jewish and genuinely reflective of who you are as a couple.
A Jewish Wedding That Feels Like Your Wedding
There is no single way a meaningful Jewish wedding has to look.
Some couples want a ceremony rich in traditional Hebrew liturgy and ritual. Others feel deeply connected to Jewish identity while wanting a ceremony that is accessible to guests of many backgrounds. Some know exactly which traditions they want to include; others begin our conversations knowing only that they want their wedding to feel Jewish, personal and meaningful.
That’s where I come in.
We’ll talk about your relationship, your families, your connection to Judaism and the experience you want to create beneath the chuppah. Then we’ll build the ceremony together.
Depending on what is meaningful to you, your wedding may include traditions such as:
A ketubah signing
Bedecken or another moment before the ceremony
The chuppah
Kiddush and wine
Exchange of rings
The traditional Seven Blessings — Sheva Brachot
Personal vows
Hebrew and English readings
Honoring parents, grandparents or other loved ones
Breaking the glass — followed, of course, by a resounding “Mazal tov!”
I’ll explain the traditions, help you make thoughtful choices and make sure your guests understand the meaning of what they are witnessing without turning your wedding ceremony into a lecture.
Weddings Throughout Napa Valley and Sonoma
I am available to officiate weddings throughout California Wine Country, including:
Napa • Yountville • St. Helena • Calistoga • Sonoma • Glen Ellen • Santa Rosa • Healdsburg • Petaluma and surrounding communities.
Wine Country attracts couples and families from across California, around the country and around the world. You don’t need to live locally — much of our planning can take place by video, phone and email before we meet for your wedding.
Warm, Inclusive and Grounded in Jewish Tradition
Every couple arrives with a different story.
My role isn't to fit you into a predetermined ceremony. It is to help you draw upon the richness of Jewish tradition to create a wedding that feels sacred, joyful and unmistakably yours.
I officiate for LGBTQ+ couples and welcome couples and families with a wide variety of Jewish backgrounds and levels of observance.
If one of you grew up deeply immersed in Jewish life and the other is still learning what a ketubah is, that is perfectly fine. I'll help everyone understand what we're doing and why while keeping the focus where it belongs: on the two of you and the covenant you are making with one another.
What Is Included

Creation of a personalized ceremony
Coordination with your wedding planner and other professionals as needed
Travel to your Napa Valley or Wine Country wedding
Officiation of the ketubah signing and wedding ceremony

Planning a Destination Wedding in Napa Valley?
You don't need to find “the local rabbi” simply because you're getting married in Wine Country.
The relationship between a couple and their officiant matters.
Your rabbi will stand only a few feet away from you during one of the most emotionally significant moments of your wedding day. You should have someone beneath the chuppah who knows you, understands what matters to you, and can create a ceremony that feels both natural and sacred.
That relationship is why I spend time getting to know every couple before the wedding.

Yes. I am available for weddings throughout Napa Valley, Sonoma and California Wine Country, as well as Lake Tahoe, Sacramento and other destination locations.

Absolutely. All of my ceremonies include English along with Hebrew - I like to help your guests understand what’s goin on in the ceremony.
Can family members participate in the ceremony?
Yes. There are many beautiful ways to involve parents, grandparents, siblings and friends, including readings, blessings and participation in the Seven Blessings or Sheva Brachot.
Do you officiate LGBTQ+ weddings?
Absolutely. All loving couples are welcome beneath the chuppah.
Can you help us with our ketubah?
Yes. I can help you think through both the ritual and practical aspects of the ketubah, including wording, signing and how the ketubah ceremony fits into the rest of your wedding day.
